~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ December, 3 2008 MY EXPERIENCE AT TREFFPUNKT My wife and I found Treffpunkt Sprachinstitut by doing extensive searches on the web. We looked at a lot of schools and settled on Treffpunkt because it looked "different" than the rest. I have no personal experience with other intensive language schools and after going to Treffpunkt I have no reason to want to go to a different school. Just look at the photos, videos, and read the other reviews. They are all TRUE. The website doesn't misrepresent anything. If after looking at the website you think this school looks like a fun place to learn. It is!!! And don't let FUN make you think you won't learn much. The classes are well structured and allowed me to learn a HUGE amount in a short time. The school is amazing and exceeded my
expectations. I was a little apprehensive about attending
Treffpunkt because I'm 39 years old and hadn't been in
school for a long time. Once I got there things couldn't
have been much better. The school and staff are incredibly
friendly and helpful. Both in school and out of school there are experiences which offered me opportunities to improve my German. Daily there are activities in which to meet other people from around the world and in some cases German is the only common language spoken. I certainly can't find that in America. My wife and I have always made our own housing arrangements but I've heard from other students they have been very happy with the homes, families, and apartments provided through the school. My classes were usually 3-5 people. The largest I ever had was 7 and, while at first I thought that would be too large, it actually made the class more interesting. My fellow students were anywhere from 18 to 65 years old. The age differences didn't matter, I've had great learning experiences with people 1/2 my age and also those nearly double my age. Everyone is there to learn. Bamberg is also a very interesting place. It is full of history, culture, music, arts, good restaurants, EXCELLENT BIER, and friendly people. I can't imagine someone not liking the town. Even if I didn't attend the school, I am certain I will find myself back in Bamberg for a visit. Oh and a TIP! I found it extremely beneficial to do my homework "hausaufgabe" in a restaurant. It kept me hearing German while I studied and it also offered opportunities to discuss with those around me what I was doing. It created a topic of conversation and was certainly much better than sitting in my apartment. I hope this helps and I hope to see you at Treffpunkt. If you choose to go to Treffpunkt make note of my name, who knows maybe I'll be there too and we can sprich Deutsch over a RAUCHBIER! ...I personally like Spezial over Schlenkerla... Tschüß Eric Seelye
