Hello Kathleen,

I am a Belgian girl who is planning to study German at the TREFF PUNKT Institute in Bamberg, Germany after the summer 99. As you were on the website as a reference, I would like to ask you about your experience (good or bad?) at that institute...

Which program did you attend at that school? (intensive program or group courses?) How long was the program? (weeks, months) Are you satisfied about the quality of the German courses?

My experience with TREFF PUNKT was very good. I have taken two courses there... a three-week one two years ago and a two-week one last year... both times in August which is a very good moment to come to Bamberg. I was in a group of five to ten people... it changes as some people finish earlier and go home and others come and start the course. The groups are international which makes the learning so much fun. I cannot remember the exact division of the courses at the moment but I took the one which has 20 hours a week. I felt that I didn't need to take more intensive one as I could talk to many people after the classes as well. The social life can be pretty intensive here...:-)
... well, the money was also an influential factor...:-)!
I must say I was very satisfied with the courses themselves as well. The teachers in TREFF PUNKT are very well prepared to their job and extremely friendly... they are mostly (or all) graduated from German philology at the University here in Bamberg...

Do you have the feeling now that you can speak German very well?

Mein Deutsch ist wegen TREFF PUNKT viel besser geworden und ich habe mich entschieden in Deutschland zu studieren. Jetzt bin ich eigentlich in Bamberg... ich studiere Betriebswirtschaftslehre (Business Administration) an der Otto-Friedrich University schon seit zwei Monaten und gleichzeitig nehme ich an viele Freizeitaktivitäten in TREFF PUNKT teil. Außerdem, meine Schwester hat gerade ein Kurs in TREFF PUNKT angefangen.

Were you placed by the institute in a company near Bamberg to go working?

No, I wasn't interesed in that option as I didn't really have much time to spend in Germany... but as far as I know, Alexandra and Joachim have many business contacts.

What was your accommodation?

The first time I was staying in a student residence with two German students and one guy from Maroco who was taking a course in TREFF PUNKT as well. The second time I was sharing the flat with a Spanish student... also from TREFF PUNKT. He was there the second time as well... You see, people keep coming back here... I know students who have already been in TREFF PUNKT three times. I guess they like the family atmosphere here very much.

I would be very happy if you could help me out by answering these simple questions, or by giving me some more info.

Basicaly, I found TREFF PUNKT the best Language Institute I have been to so far.... I am actually comparing it to the English Language Institutes in Edinbugh and London that I know from my previous language courses and I must say they are a lot better here in Bamberg. You get the value for your money. Besides, you are going to fall in love with the town itself when you come over here.
